Winch Replacement
I replaced the primary genoa winches in the summer of 2004. The original winches were all Wilcox-Crittenden aluminum winches. There are non-self tailing, one speed, with no reduction gearing. The winch handles are 8" and 10" aluminum knife-blades with a small locking "thingy".

The replacement winches are Andersen 28 ST's. These are stainless steel, two speed, and self-tailing. While quite as large in diameter as the original winches, they provide significantly more power due to the gearing.

Old school aluminum knifeblade winch manufactured by Wilcox-Crittenden. I still have the original spinnaker and halyard winches, but the primary genoa winches have been replaced.

Here is one of the new winches--an Andersen 28ST. This is my crew's favorite upgrade on the boat.
